Cleaning your Vitreous Enamel lampshade
Due to the glasslike Vitreous Enamel finish, the lampshade can easily be cleaned with a soft cloth.
For stubborn marks, a high-quality window/glass cleaner can be applied to the cloth then passed over the lampshade. Care should always be taken to avoid contact with the Coolicon badge.
Steam resistant lampshades; ideal for lighting busy kitchens
The Original 1933™ Design reimagines the first very Coolicon lampshades and our Underground Collection enriches that heritage through shared design history. Both launched in 1933, Harry Beck’s first edition London Underground map can be found hand-enamelled inside our Coolicon’s reflector for a burst of colour; shining a light on Beck’s historic designs while the light reflects unimpeded. The shades dainty form and innovative vented gallery allows for soft ambient light to stream from above while a stronger task lighting is cast below.
When fitting your kitchen with lighting it is important to consider where your focal points should be. Our 1933™ Design lampshades can be used to highlight the areas where light is most needed, while simultaneously providing ambient light throughout your room. For open plan kitchens we recommend a combination of Original and Large Coolicon lampshades. Light the entirety of the space with the larger design while targeting your busy food preparation areas with the Original 1933™ Design lampshades for practical yet elegant lighting.
"Low hanging pendant lights that brighten your kitchen area"
"Great in sunlight, never to fade"
Coolicon Lighting’s lighter palette showcases the alchemy of our Vitreous Enamel process to the full. Hand applying up to four layers of Vitreous Enamel to the steel shade, each application is fired in the furnace at over 800°c. The fair Paper Cream enamel draws out and accentuates the Maker’s Marks; from beautifully expressed edges to the hand pressed creases of the badge.
The precise hand-application of Harry Beck’s first edition London Underground map is the final and definitive expression of the makers art. Enamelled into the shade, never to tarnish or fade, this revolutionary map design becomes part of your lampshade for a lifetime and beyond.
"Paper cream enamel lampshades; the beauty of craftsmanship and Maker's Marks"
A 1933 London Underground map that will never fade - the magic of enamel
From lighting the way for workers in 1933, our colour palettes draw Coolicon lampshades from their industrial past and into the contemporary home.
A colour of fond memories and comfort, the Paper Cream lampshade creates a sense of peace to come home to. Reminiscent of the London Underground passageway tiles, old train carriages and your favourite childhood books, this shade will take you on a trip down memory lane.
For the neutral lovers out there, pair this soft cream lampshade with our Original Grey for the perfect match.
