Underground Edition

First produced in 1933, the first edition Harry Beck map will be familiar with anyone who has ever travelled on the London Underground. Harry Beck brought order to an extensive network, adopting design principles which would resonate far beyond the streets of London. In celebration of our shared history, both being first produced in 1933 and our debt to London Underground, Coolicon® are proud to produce our Coolicon® Original Underground pendant shades. Lovingly rendered in vibrant enamel Harry Beck’s original London Underground map is displayed in all its glory, either inside on or top of the reflector. A conversation piece framing a kitchen table; can you spot any long closed stations?

Harry Beck

Harry Beck is famous for creating the original London Underground map back in 1931. Trained as an engineering draughstman, Beck used his experience to map the complex tube route in the same colour co-ordinated format found in circuit boards to propose a radical solution that was lauded on its release in 1933.
